Shaping the future of movement

Thuasne® creates non-invasive medical devices that combine clinical efficacy, comfort and compliance to durably improve patients’ mobility and quality of life. To achieve this, it draws on its recognized expertise in technical textiles, new technologies and excellent scientific collaborations.

Innovation from the outset

From the very beginning, Thuasne® has been able to transform observations into concrete medical advances. Like Maurice Thuasne, who, inspired by the use of puttees during World War I, helped make elastic compression a pillar of wound healing.

Driven by this visionary culture and backed by its outstanding textile expertise, Thuasne® is constantly reinventing itself to design ever more effective solutions. Today, the Group designs, develops, and manufactures cutting-edge medical devices in the fields of orthopedics, medical compression, and sports.

Innovation is more than just a driving force at Thuasne®: it's a promise. A promise of technicality, efficiency and comfort for patients. This commitment is based on three pillars:

  • Functional innovation for ergonomic and comfortable solutions;
  • Exploring new technologies to treat specific conditions;
  • The search for advanced materials for better performance and durability.

At Thuasne®, we are shaping the future of care and movement, so that everyone can move forward with confidence.

Our approach to innovation is based on listening to patients' needs, working with scientific experts, and gaining a deep understanding of diseases. Using the latest technologies, we are developing the healthcare solutions of tomorrow to improve mobility.

State-of-the-art medical innovation for patient care

With more than 200 active patents, Thuasne® demonstrates its capacity for innovation. The Group currently offers more than 20,000 references in its various fields of activity.

Each year, approximately 30 new solutions are developed and marketed. These innovations are based on in-depth knowledge of diseases, clinical needs, therapeutic mechanisms of action, and the use of the latest technologies.

At Thuasne®, each innovation stems from the synergy between the expertise of our in-house teams and exchanges with our ecosystem. Engineers, designers, modelers and researchers combine their skills to turn an idea into a concrete solution. This structured process relies on close collaboration with patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring that devices are effective, ergonomic, and tailored to each condition.

Innovative technologies for movement

Originally specializing in the manufacture of narrow elastic textiles for clothing, Thuasne® now applies its expertise to healthcare in order to prevent and treat a wide range of conditions. Thanks to its recognized industrial know-how and mastery of various technologies and materials, the Group designs patented technical textiles and develops original and high-performance medical devices.
  • Combitex fabric

    This breathable fabric is used in the manufacture of lumbar belts and features dual technology for added breathability and softness. The hydrophobic interior wicks away moisture, while the hydrophilic exterior absorbs perspiration and allows it to evaporate.
  • FAST technology

    Developed for patients suffering from venous insufficiency, this technology is integrated into Venoflex FAST compression solutions. It combines comfort, thanks to its seamless top, easy donning with its stretchability, and continuous taper to avoid excessive pressure on the calf.
  • Mobiderm

    This technology consists in integrating foam pads into a technical fabric to promote drainage and lymph circulation. It is used in the field of lymphology to help reduce edema and improve patients’ daily lives.

Imagining the healthcare solutions of tomorrow

Technological innovation is an integral part of Thuasne's® product development. The Group integrates the latest technologies into the design of its medical devices and paves the way for more effective and personalized solutions to support patients throughout their care pathway.

  • 3D printing for personalization

    Thuasne® uses 3D printing in the manufacturing process of certain orthoses. This technology enables the production of medical devices adapted to patient morphology, improving both comfort and efficiency. It also meets the specific needs of healthcare professionals, seeking custom solutions for complex conditions.

  • Smart orthoses and assisted mobility

    Thuasne® is collaborating with Canadian medtech company Bionic Power Inc. on the development and marketing of SpryStep® Agilik™. This innovation combines the motorization technology of the North American company with the carbon orthotic devices for which Thuasne® is the world leader.

    Equipped with a microprocessor-controlled system, this motorized solution is designed to improve mobility and stability for patients with neuromuscular deficits of the lower limbs.

  • Digital measurement

    Always keen to anticipate trends, Thuasne® has made the necessary shift to digital technology. In particular, the Group has developed a smartphone-based measurement tool for the making of some of its made-to-measure solutions. This application saves time for healthcare professionals and provides a medical device that is adapted to each patient's body type.
