175 years of innovation for health
Since its creation, Thuasne® has pursued a constant objective of innovation. Building on its historic expertise in the textile industry, the Group made a strategic shift towards the healthcare sector in the 1930s. Thanks to this innovative spirit, we have kept apace with developments and offer technical healthcare solutions adapted to patients' pathologies.
Buoyed by six generations of visionary leaders, Thuasne® is now a key player in the global medical device market. With four R&D centers in France, Germany, the UK and the USA, Thuasne® currently holds 200 active patents and launches 30 to 40 new medical devices every year.
As an independent, family-owned group, Thuasne® takes a long-term view and builds lasting partnerships. In 2022, the Group celebrated 175 years of existence, proof of a bold strategic vision and a capacity for innovation that have ensured its longevity.

From a French company to an international group in six generations
Thuasne® is present on five continents through its 18 subsidiaries and nearly 200 distributors.
The opening of the first subsidiary in Belgium in 1984 laid the foundations for an international expansion strategy that accelerated in 1991 with the arrival of Elizabeth Ducottet as CEO.
Under her leadership, and later that of her daughter Delphine Hanton, Thuasne® made a number of strategic acquisitions and opened subsidiaries abroad, enabling the Group to establish a solid foothold in the European, American and Asian markets. This strategy is paying off, as Thuasne® now generates 50% of its revenue outside France.
An iconic French mid-sized company
Thuasne® has established itself as a pioneering mid-sized company in the field of medical devices. Strongly attached to its French roots, its industrial vocation and the know-how of its home territory, Thuasne® plays an active role at the heart of the French economic and healthcare ecosystem.
The Group is asserting its role as a driving force for innovation and competitiveness in France through its commitment to METI (Movement of mid-sized companies). Its membership of Snitem1 and Medtech in France also illustrates its involvement in the medical technology sector.
As a member of the French Healthcare Association, Thuasne® contributes to the development of healthcare and promotes French excellence beyond its borders.
